    • Abstract:
The author reflects on the development of the service economy in Australia. He argues that parts of the service economy are subjected to specific regulation that is efficiently designed and not necessarily hampered investment and employment decisions. He is concerned with the country's economic prospects due to the declining productivity growth. He believes that the Australian Labor Party will emphasize the role of the service economy and agriculture in international trade negotiations.
