In 1970, the Grand Prize in the Plant Design Awards was won by Al Phillips The Cleaner's remodeled plant in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1972, merger negotiations were completed by the National Institute of Dry Cleaning and the American Institute of Laundering, forming the International Fabricare Institute (IFI), based in Joliet, Illinois. In 1978, minimum wage rises to $2.65.
