The article presents a chronology of events related to the U.S. dry cleaning industry during the 1970s. In 1970, the Grand Prize in the Plant Design Awards was won by Al Phillips The Cleaner's remodeled plant in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1972, merger negotiations were completed by the National Institute of Dry Cleaning and the American Institute of Laundering, forming the International Fabricare Institute (IFI), based in Joliet, Illinois. In 1978, minimum wage rises to $2.65.
