- Abstract:
The article presents information on Jamaica's economy, politics, history, geography and foreign relations. The country's economy has been severely hit by the global financial and economic crises. This forced the JLP government of Prime Minister Bruce Golding to obtain a new stand-by loan with the International Monetary Fund. There has also been little progress in the efforts to curb violent crime which is essential to the country's attainment of economic prosperity.
