    • Abstract:
A model to explain the degree of internalisation of SMEs is proposed and tested using data obtained flora a survey of 207 Canadian exporters. Certain aspects of the domestic competitive strategy employed by a SME are shown to have a significant effect upon the chosen export marketing strategy In turn, the degree of internationalisation attained by the SME is shown to be influenced by two aspects of export marketing strategy, namely the level of support offered to the foreign distributor, and the pricing strategy adopted for the chosen export market.
