    • Abstract:
In this article the author examines the "tea party" form of right-wing political protest prevalent in the United States in 2010. The central focus of the article is the author's contention that, contrary to the belief of many liberals, the tea party movement is an authentic form of political protest with roots in U.S. history and that should not be dismissed. Among a number of issues the article examines issues related to the tea party protests including the conspiracy theories of Glenn Beck, a television personality, tea party candidates for Congress, and the racial make-up of the movement.
