      This article profiles American novelist Mona Simpson. In 1993, Simpson relocated to Los Angeles, California as a new mother. She attributes her new book "My Hollywood: A Novel" to that relocation. She uses identifiable characters, such as nannies, to analyze the nature of relations, love and modern urban families as children bond with immigrant hired help. According to Simpson, there are several women who are working in the country with their own young children left behind. She thinks that the book is a product of the global economic shift.
