    • Abstract:
The article discusses why the U.S. economy is struggling, and in the view of some has embarked upon a period of long-term decline. The author argues that wrongdoing in the securities industry is not to blame. He describes the impact on the global economy of U.S. fiscal, monetary, and trade policy from the end of World War II to the present day to show how a variety of factors including trade policy have led to the current state of affairs. He believes the primary economic objective for the U.S. in the 21st century is to revive its industry.
