    • Abstract:
The article discusses saving and its effects on consumption and employment. According to the author, the loss of demand and the unsaleability of goods during times of economic crisis and depression are not due to consumer saving. The author believes this withholding on the part of consumers is due to a lack of confidence in the economy. Also noted is the author's belief that both consumer saving and saving in the realm of public finance, improves the relationship between the costs of production and the prices obtainable for consumer goods.
