The article discusses the trend of exhibiting double feature motion pictures in the U.S. In 1931 double features were shown in roughly 1,800 movie theaters in the U.S. The principle use for double features is the potential of drawing greater numbers of people to a theater. A double feature satisfies the overall entertainment needs of a greater number of people. Motion picture producers and distributors are opposed to the double feature. They say it threatens to reduce their motion picture rentals and endangers their exhibition holdings. Analysts say another danger of the double feature is the potential satiation of the motion-picture going public.
