    • Abstract:
Australian joblessness rose to a 12-year high of 6.4% in July from 6% in June. Expectations had been for a 6.1% rate. The labor participation rate ticked up to 64.8% from 64.7%. Australian employment fell by 300 vs. expectations for a gain of about 12,000. Australia's long-booming economy has been hurt by weakening China demand for commodities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
