    • Abstract:
The article discusses the evolution of the clinical commissioning group (CCG) nurse role which shows how nurses are capable of senior governance roles within primary care organizations. It cites the varied roles across selected CCGs as examples of the expanded roles of nurses with CCGs and demonstrates the impact of nurses with some as executive nurses while others act as the registered independent nurse on the CCG. It notes that nurses are seen as advocates for quality and safety within CCGs.
