      This article reports on recent advances in digital color proofing. It is said that for professionals in the graphic arts market today, purchase and implementation decisions now encompass the proofing engine, the inks and media, the RIP software, and a color management solution. Likewise, before users get to the point of producing a hard-copy proof, many are turning to soft-proofing solutions such as Kodak Polychrome Graphics LLC's Matchprint Virtual or RealTimeProof, and Group Logic Inc.'s Imagexpo, or services such as Proof-It-Online. The appeal of soft proofing is that users can save cost and enjoy almost unlimited proofing passes. INSETS: IKEA embraces standards;Pottery Barn implements monitor-based proofing;Vermillion Inc. builds digital capabilities.
