      The article focuses on catalog publishing. Stibo Catalog's STEP Content Management Suite enables companies to manage large, complex catalog production processes, even those that include Asian language translation and geographically distributed production. Stibo Catalog is a leader in multichannel catalog content management and publishing software, a category that includes such vendors as Apsiva, RoboCatalog and Webcom. At Stibo Catalog's "Stepup" Seminar on April 14, 2005 in New York, the catalog management systems vendor presented an intriguing case study that highlighted many of these challenges, as well as the ways in which they were addressed. Catalog management systems such as STEP are effectively two systems in one: content management and product management. Their essential jobs are to function as enterprise repositories for product information; to manage content associated with products, such as text descriptions and images; and to integrate the two sets of information in such a way as to feed catalog layout and production processes.
