    • Abstract:
This article presents views of the author on the sixth week of the New York Film Festival. According to the author there is often something attractive about even a (moderately) bad film. Its back- ground, for instance, may be nicely photographed. Several of the films at the were very pretty. Most of them were regarded as superior, their boldness about sex and their nudes are immediately striking. The films were also very psycho- logical. But the author prefers their pornography to their psychology. Max Ophul's 1955 film "Lola Montes," was visually exquisite. The director's cultivated eye is everywhere apparent: the composition of a concert in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens was a perfect Manet.
