    • Abstract:
The reason, the film "Gulliver's Travels," by Jonathan Swift is so good is that Swift knew exactly what he wanted its symbols to mean. The symbols have their own fascination, so that any child can love them; but no man can outgrow them and hence the work remains a classic. "The New Gulliver," an adaptation of Swift's story directed by Alexander Ptushko for the Moscow Film Studios, has nothing like the same likelihood of life. Its thousands of puppets the size of a man's finger are the most engaging possible creatures and no praise can be too great for the inventiveness with which they are manipulated.
