      The very popular tableau vivant within the Victorian England is a case in point for the field of inter medial studies, as an example of the fusion between the arts and of the pleasure taken in cultural cross-referencing. Lady Hamilton and her plastic poses was one of the pioneers of the genre. The influence of the theatre, in particular London music hall which inspired so many works, provides a fine starting-point to analyse inter medial reference at work between painters and photographers. Il relève des théories de l’intermédialité, constituant un exemple de mélange des arts et du plaisir de la référence culturelle.
