ASSOCIAÇÕES SIMBÓLICAS E AFETIVAS DOS MORADORES COM A PAISAGEM DA CIDADE PEQUENA. (Portuguese)

SYMBOLIC AND AFFECTIVE ASSOCIATIONS OF RESIDENTS WITH THE SMALL CITY LANDSCAPE. (English)

The residents of a small city experience the urban environment and live with all its characteristics. Therefore, they develop symbolic and affective associations related to the landscape, adding expectations, experiences and memories. Knowing how residents assess and perceive symbolic aspects, as well as whether it interferes with satisfaction with the environment is a step towards understanding how people relate to the place. A case study was carried out, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, in two cities in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil: Nova Palma and Silveira Martins. The sample included 131 residents who answered questionnaires and mental maps. The identification with the city, be it social, cultural or with the physical environment, contributed to the affective relationships and symbolic associations. In general, residents positively evaluated their cities and the fact that they are small and this adds characteristics that contribute to the satisfaction with the place. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Os moradores de uma cidade pequena vivenciam o ambiente urbano e convivem com todas as suas características. Diante disso, desenvolvem associações simbólicas e afetivas relacionadas à paisagem, somando expectativas, experiências e memórias. Conhecer como os moradores avaliam e percebem os aspectos simbólicos, bem como se isso interfere na satisfação, é um passo para entender como as pessoas se relacionam com o lugar. Foi realizado um estudo de caso, com abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, em duas cidades do interior do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil: Nova Palma e Silveira Martins. A amostra incluiu 131 moradores que responderam questionários e mapas mentais. A identificação com a cidade, seja ela social, cultural ou com o ambiente físico, contribuiu para as relações afetivas e associações simbólicas. De modo geral, os moradores avaliaram positivamente as suas cidades e o fato delas serem pequenas e isso agrega características que contribuem na satisfação com o lugar. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
