    • Abstract:
The article discusses the efforts made by nurses to protect themselves from needlestick injuries in the U.S. The author stated her experience of being injured by a needlestick, wherein she subsequently contracted hepatitis C. She learned that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends not to break or remove used needles. With the help of the American Nurses Association, several nurses banded together to initiate a law giving them the choice of what device to use.
