      Chapter 13 of book 2 of the book "Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life," by George Eliot is presented. It deals with the status of women, the nature of marriage, idealism and self-interest, religion and hypocrisy, political reform, and education. It highlights the meeting of town's financier Mr. Bulstrode and doctor Tertius Lydgate concerning the latter's financial problem on his voluntary hospital work.
