      The article discusses the economic trends in the building construction industry in the U.S. According to the author, the shortage of both building accommodation created by the war and the generally prosperous conditions of business in the subsequent years have contributed to the long-sustained period of active construction. He also points out how the statistics of building activity relate to the issuance of building permits or to the letting of building and engineering contracts. Furthermore, he presents the problem of overbuilding and speculates to the future of the industry.
