This article profiles U.S. author Helen V. Griffith. She was born on October 31, 1934 in Wilmington, Delaware. Writing poetry as a child, usually about animals, marked the beginning of Griffith's career. "Mine Will," Said John, was the first of several picture books featuring her love of animals, especially dogs and cats, and the environment. Her books, including Alex and the Cat, Alex Remembers and More Alex and the Cat, depict loving relationships between pets and their owners.
