    • Abstract:
A PHRASE which is sometimes used to describe Lady Sarah McCorquodale and her efforts to sustain the fond memory and charitable endeavours of her late sister is 'well meaning'. If that sounds like faint praise -- similar platitudes are garlanded on trendy vicars and hoodie-hugging politicians -- then that's because it is. Other voices are far more scathing in their assessment of the Spencer scion who heads the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. 'Misguided' and 'hapless' are among the more caustic opinions expressed of this Lincolnshire farmer's wife who was herself once Prince Charles's girlfriend. And there is even a small but noisy rump of the now hopelessly splintered entourage of the late Princess who feel that Lady Sarah, Diana's eldest sister, is acting in a manner which can be described only as vindictive. This sorry dissonance shows no sign of abating as we approach the week of the tenth anniversary of Diana's death in a car crash. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
