      The article deals with the representation of sexuality in young adult literature. The common themes in young adult literature associated with teenage sexual identity include sexual firsts, sexual agency, personal implications and social ramifications. A turning point in sexual representation in young adult literature is Judy Blume's 1975 book "Forever," which portrayed a young adult in a positive sexual relationship. According to the author, young adult readers tries to negotiate a sense of self in terms of sexual agency.
