      The article reports on the fatalities, injuries and damages caused by continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon in the Philippines in August 2012. Data from the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDR-RMC), showed death toll recorded at 49 and evacuation of 119,751 families. Affected regions include Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Laguna. The disaster assistance funds received by the government is also noted.
