      The article discusses the Jindyworobak literary movement and its relation to modernism focusing on its institutional and material practices. An overview of the Jindyworobak Club and nationalist poetry movement based on an essay of poet Rex Ingamell titled "Conditional Culture" is also presented. Topics discussed include the problems posed by an essay by novelist Raymond Williams on Australian modernism and the characteristics of modernism in the movement.
