    • Abstract:
The author reflects on the message that the senseless killings such as the June 2016 nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida that left 50 dead and 53 wounded brings to school-age children and youths as well as the national, local and household political conversations about race and policing send to developing children. He suggests for school-based professionals to prepare to take on their roles in building and channeling the emotions of children in productive, positive and civil ways.
