      The article offers information on an operation called biliopancreatic diversion which makes obese people lose weight as standard treatment options for type 2 diabetes, which is thought to be chronic, progressive and ultimately irreversible. The author states that variuos clinical trials revealed how surgery controls diabetes better, faster and longer than diet changes and drugs do by reducing the surface of the gastrointestinal tract.
