The article examines the approaches of the American and British security services to surveillance and policing of communists. The British political policing operations is compared with the operations of the U.S. regime during the interwar years. The British policing is described as more covert while the U.S. policing is said to be more covert. The impact of war on the relationship between the U.S. and Great Britain is also examined.
