      The article reports that the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has defined evidence-based clinical guidelines as systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about proper healthcare for specific clinical circumstances. The return-to-activity metric is a measure of evidence-based clinical guidelines usage combined with duration data. The metric offers a basis for producing a set of recovery estimates to prepare the quickest possible course for a patient's recovery.
