The article reports that after weeks of controversy over the ousting of former chief Moritz de Hadeln, the Venice International Film Festival has a new artistic director, former Locarno film festival head Marco Muller. Venice Biennale's five-member board, headed by Davide Croff, made the appointment and also extended the duration of the artistic director's contract to four years so that it coincides with the board's own four-year term. Muller has been organizing film festivals since 1978. He was director of the Rotterdam festival from 1989-91 and chief of the Locarno film festival from 1991-2000.
