      The article examines the history of African Americans with regard to the differences between their activism in the 1960s and the 21st century. Topics include the mass protests in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014, crimes against African Americans, and the 1960s as a tumultuous era in American history. Also discussed are the advancements in African Americans' rights, the election of Barack Obama as the country's first African American president, and the mass incarceration of African Americans.
