    • Abstract:
The article discusses how the sustained combat the U.S. has indulged in since 2000 has produced a secondary force of veterans suffering from the traumas associated with both military service and combat. It notes that 75% of veterans in prison and 69% of service members in jail had experienced no combat tours while on active duty. It adds that the number of veterans incarcerated in State and Federal prisons and local jails decreased from 203,000 in 2004 to 181,500 in 2011-2012.
