      The article focuses on human resources' (HR) offering of financial incentives to employees who quit smoking. Statistics are provided showing the health effects of smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke. An overview of the smoking-cessation program at Semblex Corp., an automotive fastener manufacturer, is provided. A study at General Electric, published in the "New England Journal of Medicine," showed that cash incentives are successful motivators for workers to stop smoking.
