Spirals of the Self: Barry Hannah's Autobiographical Method.

The article examines the autobiographical element in the novel "Geronimo Rex," by Barry Hannah, as identified by John Updike in his 1972 review of the work. The comparison between Hannah and American author J. D. Salinger by critics is noted. An overview of the novel is presented. The author contends that Hannah's autobiographical bent is influenced by authors filtered through Henry Miller.
