The article offer a look at developments in the past years that have impact on people in the U.S. with neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities (ND/ID). It includes the passage of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, and the decision of the Supreme Court in 1999 that unjustified segregation of persons with disabilities constitutes discrimination in violation of ADA.
