      Keywords: resistance; spirituality EN resistance spirituality 85 97 13 04/04/20 20200301 NES 200301 Because I composed this during Black History Month, I wish to begin by inviting you to listen to a marvelous, young performance artist named Joshua Bennett as he offers a piece he wrote to celebrate this month called, "Say it, Sing it."[34] Last month, on the third Monday of January, we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the only federal holiday we observe in the U.S. that is dedicated to a I citizen i who never held government office. Two of the meditation practices we use are the Theravada practice of I metta i and the Mahayana practice of I tong-len i . One should see Salzberg's various works on I metta i and also Joanna Macy and Molly Brown's expansive I metta i practice described in the brilliant manual of meditative exercises called I Coming Back to Life i .[59] Tong-Len I Tong-len i is Tibetan for, literally, giving ( I tong i ) and taking ( I len i ). The Buddha often considered himself to be a physician, more so than the founder of a religion, and as a doctor he offered medicine to heal the illness of the human condition.
