      The article offers information on the promotion of demographic factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, or other common backgrounds or interests through employee resource groups (ERG) by local governments in the U.S. It further discusses providing support and a platform to advocate for change; through professional development, networking and mentoring finding and nurturing future leaders, for the employees and the organization's benefits; and creating roles dedicated to diversity and inclusion.
