    • Abstract:
The sheets remaining on hand, which had not yet been requisitioned for coil manufacture, were completely perforated with the prevailing 10 gauge, cut into panes of 100 and distributed to the postmasters with the marginal imprint "Coil Stamps" still intact. February 5, 2021 Mekeel's & Stamps MAGAZINE 19 The blocks of the 1¢ and 2¢, 190821 series of U.S. postage stamps, Scott's numbers 424 and 425, which bear the Imprint of "Coil Stamps" on either the right or left margin, are an interesting study showing as they do in their origin, the gradual improvements made in the manufacturing of coil stamps. This device by cutting and rolling the coils in one operation greatly facilitated their manufacture as it was capable of making 10 rolls of coil stamps at a time. [Extracted from the article]
