    • Abstract:
The article presents the views of Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro on four of his most resonant books. After noting his tendency to write in a script-like fashion, he focused on writing through memory, following a narrator's drifting thoughts, for "An Artist of the Floating World." After being classified as a Japanese writer even though he has lived in England for more than 50 years, he wrote "The Remains of the Day," which is about an English butler, to challenge that typecasting.
