      Being a Black woman in health care, Dr. Airica Steed knows firsthand the challenges, and sometimes downright racism and discrimination, people of color face in the industry. The study, which randomized which patients were seen by Black doctors or non-Black doctors, showed that Black male patients seen by other Black doctors were more likely to engage with physicians and agree to preventive services, like cardiovascular screenings and immunizations.
