    • Abstract:
The article focuses on estimated 500 casting directors based in Los Angeles and New York who have threatened to walk off the job if they are refused a collective bargaining agreement as part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The Teamsters have promised to support the job action, meaning their truck drivers will not cross the picket lines. AMPTP has offered to arrange for the casting directors to receive benefits under a plan such as the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans. The casters insist they are employees who should be entitled to the same benefits, wage guarantees and bargaining rights as all of the other union personnel on TV and film projects.
