    • Abstract:
The article informs that Ontario steelhead flies can be divided into two general categories: clear-water small-stream flies and coloured-water big-river flies. Clear-water flies are generally small, natural coloured, and tend to match insects relatively closely. Coloured-water flies tend to be bigger, have more flash and colour, and be more like attractors than close imitations of natural insects. While flies are rarely a poor choice, there are prime times for drifting them under a float. Mid-to late spring and early fall are probably best. The warmer water seems to trigger a steelhead's interest in flies. INSET: ONTARIO STEELHEAD FLIES..
