The article informs that Al Jazeera Satellite Channel aspires to be a bridge between people and cultures to support the right of the individual to acquire information and strengthen the values of tolerance, democracy, and the respect of liberties and human rights. In its endeavor to uphold impartiality, balance and credibility, Al Jazeera has been falling foul of certain states and regimes in the Middle East and beyond. Dramatic measures where taken by detractors, culminating in the closure of some of its regional Bureaux and the bombing of others. In addition, the de-facto economic embargo, albeit unofficial, imposed on Al Jazeera, starved it of much deserved, and indeed needed, advertising revenue. Despite all pressures imposed, the perpetual success of Al Jazeera Channel during the past eight years has been enhanced with various expansion projects. Al Jazeera media bouquet, as it is being sometimes referred to in media circles, will eventually combine several media services to cater to varying needs and preferences.
