    • Abstract:
This article reports on a study by Educational Policy Institute which investigated the idea that level of education is linked to economic success. The anecdotal evidence suggests that there is a direct link, but the study discovered that empirical proof of it was harder to find. While the study found that college degree holders did earn more than those with only a secondary education, it also discovered that other factors, such as race and sex, had a profound impact on income levels. The study also examined the impact a degree glut had on income levels, finding that too many degrees in a certain profession drove salaries down. The study also found that some foreign countries, like China, are investing heavily in education and might one day outstrip the educational system of the United States.
