- Abstract: The article presents the United States Senate's ratification of the peace treaty with Germany concluded at Versailles, France, on June 28, 1919, at the end of World War I. The treaty states that the U.S. is the sole judge of whether all international obligations have been fulfilled in case of notice of withdrawal from the League of Nations. The U.S. has no obligation to protect the territory or sovereignty of any other nation, or to interfere with controversies between nations. The treaty also says that the U.S. reserves the exclusive right to decide what issues are within its domestic jurisdiction, and claims jurisdiction for all matters relating to internal affairs. The treaty goes on to say that the U.S. will not submit to arbitration by the assembly, the council, or the League of Nations.
