    • Abstract:
This article reports on the 2007 Children's Book Council of Australia awards presentation. It explains that pirates, loss and separation, parents and penguins were the popular themes across formats in 2007. Typographical and grammatical errors in some otherwise good entries have been a source of frustration for judges. It says that 25 out of the 87 entries for the awards were notable. Some of the entries which won awards are "Being Bee," by Catherine Bateson and "Macbeth and Son," by Jackie French.
