    • Abstract:
The article suggests that the process of translation is leading to a cultural and political homogenization of fiction. This is because translation negates the need for readers to learn new languages and leads to less linguistically complex text, and because the world market requires stories that everyone can share and identify with. Author Kazuo Ishiguro is examined.
