      The article discusses the validity of Level of Service Inventory (LSI) as an assessment instrument in the identification of the risks and needs of criminal offenders. Three decades of research support the instrument's ability to effectively predict recidivism with a variety of offender population. It is noted that LSI is a favorite classification instrument among correction agencies both foreign and domestic.
