    • Abstract:
The article examines how the advent of information technologies might influence librarians to reconsider their commitment to the technological obsession and instead shift to a more humanistic approach. It discusses the thesis that technological infrastructure for information delivery is so easy to use to the point of invisibility. As such, the roles and unique skills of librarians come into better focus. An overview of smart technologies is offered.
