    • Abstract:
The article discusses the global issues of water insecurity and the human right to water. The authors note that access to water is textured and uneven across the spatial and economic landscape, adding that a map of access to clean water and sanitation would be variegated by region, country, and other factors. Topics include the gap in global water access, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, the international community's progress in addressing the inequity and insecurity of access to water worldwide, and examples of areas where communities are working with governments and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to address water issues and fulfill the United Nations' (UN's) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which includes the human right to water.
